A. COMMERCIAL CEREAL PRODUCTION SYSTEMS AT BAINSVLEI
This excursion will discuss a maize/sunflower/wheat/fallow commercial crop production enterprise, starting at the soil and finishing at the
final processed product. Various soil profiles and profiles under the different crops will be discussed.

B. RESEARCH SYSTEMS AT THE KENNILWORTH EXPERIMENTAL FARM
This excursion will pay a visit to the experimental farm of the Department of Soil, Crop and Climate Sciences.
There will be a demonstration of implements developed for water harvesting by commercial farmers; a water harvesting experiment
on the effect of runoff width and mulches on water use efficiency; an experiment on under-utilised crops; and lysimeter experiments on
lucerne and maize, to name but a few.
